Dear Partners,
Today, Mayor Tom Barrett, Chief Alfonso Morales of the Milwaukee Police Department, Joe Solmonese of the DNCC, and representatives from U.S. Secret Service announced the initial security footprint for the Democratic National Convention.
Below is the image and here is a link to a map of the footprint. The boundaries are Cherry Street to Clybourn Street, and 10th Street to Water Street.
As was emphasized in today's press conference, no businesses will be asked to close during the run of the convention. Visitors and locals are encouraged to shop, dine, work, and have fun in Milwaukee while the convention is taking place.
The security footprint has been designed to maximize safety, and should not deter people from experiencing the excitement in the city during the convention.
Security measures begin the weekend prior to the DNC and end immediately following the convention.
We know that there will be additional announcements coming in the months leading up to the event. We will update you as those announcements happen.
Rest assured that VISIT Milwaukee will continue to work with the Wisconsin Center District, area businesses, community leaders, and the DNCC to make the convention a safe and exciting experience for all of our visitors.
As always, feel free to reach out to VISIT Milwaukee with any questions and be sure to go to our website for additional DNC updates.
